Are you an experienced Planning or Scheduling Manager with extensive use of planning software?  Do you want to enhance your career with one of the foremost companies within the drug development sector?  This exciting role also has the added bonus of occasional European travel to other company sites. 

The Planning Manager will act as the key interface between Sales Directors and Operational Managers to provide first responses, in the form of timelines and key resource information, for new sales opportunities.  They work closely with operational managers to ensure effective resource utilisation, facilitating problem solving of resource challenges and supervise the day to day activities of planners and schedulers.

 

The role:

 

  • Assessing resource requirements for new opportunities and providing Sales Directors with accurate information about resources and best study start and reporting dates
  • Working with managers in operations to develop plans which ensure the most effective use of resources according to strategies defined by senior management
  • Reviewing resource needs, particularly constraints, and assisting managers in operations to plan accordingly
  • Driving stakeholders to reach a consensus where resource challenges exist, balancing business priorities and resource constraints
  • Liaising with Planning Managers at other sites to ensure the best available study start dates are provided to our customers
  • Developing effective relationships with Sales Directors, Resource Managers, Study Managers and Senior Management
  • Effective communication with all stakeholders including Senior Management

 

The person:

 

  • Extensive experience in a planning and / or scheduling capacity
  • Experience of managing small teams
  • Extensive experience of using planning software
  • Strong organisational skills, with good attention to detail, accuracy and time management
  • Commercial understanding with the ability to put the customer at the forefront of decision making
  • Competent in MS Office and familiar with CRM systems such as Salesforce
  • Demonstrable problem solving and decision making skills
  • Able to use negotiating and influencing techniques to facilitate teams to reach a consensus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop good working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the business.
  • Educated to degree level
  • Travel to other sites in UK and Europe will be required.

This is a permanent role with excellent salary and benefits.  There will be travel to other sites on an infrequent basis.
